Our Success Is Because Of God

Read the Word:  “O Lord, I beseech You, may Your ear be attentive to the prayer of Your servant and the prayer of Your servants who delight to revere Your name, and make Your servant successful today and grant him compassion before this man” (Nehemiah 1:11-12).

Apply the Word: Nehemiah has been getting ready to make a big request to a foreign king, a request to return to Judah to rebuild it. This was a big request and Nehemiah was not afraid to ask for it. Nehemiah seeks God so that God can help him be successful when he (Nehemiah) approaches the king. God came through again. Mervin Breneman says it this way. “Like many since his time, Nehemiah’s greatness came from asking great things of a great God and attempting great things in reliance on him.” What a great word. So, let’s make our requests known to God and leave the outcome to Him. He’s the key to any success.
